IUI Treatment Program in North Cyprus
Intrauterine insemination (IUI), also known as artificial insemination, is a fertility procedure in which sperm are washed, concentrated, and injected directly into a woman’s uterus. What are the indications for IUI treatment? Most commonly, cervical mucus abnormalities, low sperm count, low sperm motility, increased sperm viscosity, unexplained infertility, and the need to use donor sperm are indications for this treatment in North Cyprus. With IUI in North Cyprus, it is increases the number of sperm in the fallopian tubes, further enhancing the fertilization process.
IUI is timed as closely to ovulation as possible and to help, our expert fertility specialists control the time of ovulation with the administration of the hCG injection (Ovidrel). The insemination is accomplished by placing a speculum in the vagina to visualize the cervix. A small, sterile catheter containing the sperm will be inserted through the cervical opening into the uterine cavity next to the tubal openings.
Female Requirements for IUI Treatment
Typically, our female fertility patient should have normal day 3 blood test results, unobstructed fallopian tubes, and a normal uterine cavity.
- Women with ovulatory disorders can also be candidates for IUI if they respond adequately to fertility drugs.
- Women with mild endometriosis may benefit from IUI if they do not have a distortion of the pelvic structures.
- Women with severely damaged or blocked fallopian tubes are not candidates for IUI.
Male Requirements for IUI Treatment
IUI relies on the natural ability of our male fertility patient’s sperm to fertilize an egg in the fallopian tubes. Sperm tests are required to indicate the:
- Sperm count (number of sperm per cc)
- Sperm motility (percentage of sperm moving)
- Sperm morphology (shape)
