Do you offer Egg sharing?

Some clinics offer women the chance to share their eggs with another woman or couple having treatment.

At EuroCARE, we do not offer egg sharing for multiple reasons. Find out more about what egg sharing involves and why using donor eggs is better for your treatment success.

Egg sharing explained

Egg sharing is when a woman who is already having IVF donates some of her eggs to the clinic where she’s having treatment, usually in return for some free or discounted treatment.

In order for egg sharing to take place, the woman needs to be able to produce enough eggs in a single cycle. In addition, there may be criteria as to who can be an egg provider, including:

  • Be under 35 years of age
  • Has no transmittable diseases or serious heritable medical conditions
  • Be a certain weight (minimum and maximum body mass indexes)
  • Has high ovarian reserve levels

Egg sharers are often required to undergo further health tests. Those who qualify and choose this option are not allowed to meet or find out any information that would identify you to each other.

Why is egg sharing not available at EuroCARE?

Many people are attracted by the prospect of free or discounted IVF treatment, but there are a few considerations to take into account before choosing this treatment option:

  • Not everyone can share their eggs. There are many requirements for egg sharers which makes the treatment process complicated and lengthy.
  • You lose all rights over your eggs. If you donate your eggs to another woman/couple, you cannot freeze them and use them for future conception if the first cycle was not successful or if you want to have a second child.
  • The process is emotionally challenging. There’s always the risk that the woman you share your eggs with gets pregnant and you don’t (egg sharers have access to pregnancy updates).

What does our clinic offer instead?

Egg donation is a great — and better — alternative to egg sharing. The treatment involves obtaining eggs from a young, healthy donor and fertilising them with sperm either from the father or a donor.

At EuroCARE IVF, we use only fresh donor eggs, as these tend to produce the highest number of day-5 blastocyst embryos. Having as many high-quality, fresh eggs as possible means a greater choice of high-quality embryos, some of which can be frozen and used in future IVF cycles.

All our egg donors are healthy women aged between 21 and 28 years with an established record of pregnancy success. Before joining our Egg donation programme, candidates must undergo extensive medical, physical, fertility and genetic testing.

Patients who choose egg donation at our IVF centre in North Cyprus usually obtain 10-12 high-quality, mature eggs per cycle. This greatly increases the chances of treatment success now and in the future (through egg/embryo freezing).

If you decide to use donated eggs, our patient coordinator will be more than happy to provide you with access to our secure, online egg donor database.

Can I share donor eggs with another recipient?

No. We don’t offer egg sharing for egg donation treatments. Patients usually receive approximately 10-12 mature eggs from their chosen egg donor. We want you to have as many viable embryos as possible for future conception.

Why Egg donation at EuroCARE?

Designed in compliance with the highest standards set by the European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology (ESHRE), you can rest assured that your treatment is cost-effective and safe. What truly sets our egg donation programme apart is that you:

Moreover, with EuroCARE you can choose an egg donor from the wide database of pre-screened, healthy donors based on available crucial information, such as age, hair colour, eye colour, weight, height, blood type, Rh factor, education, career, hobbies and interests.
