When does egg retrieval take place?

IVF Treatment in North Cyprus

The success of our In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) is based on the ability to collect mature, healthy eggs from the ovaries during the IVF cycle. This applies both, for IVF treatments with your reproductive material, or with using an Egg Donor. Your eggs can be retrieved approximately on day 13 of your menstrual period, or 13 days from starting the IVF treatment. That means, from starting your stimulation therapy until the egg collection, you have 10 to 11 days.

The overall duration of an IVF varies because each patient is different and we approach individually.

If you would prefer to be at EuroCARE clinic from beginning to the end of your IVF process, you need to be in Cyprus on day 2 or 3 of your menstrual period and stay for approximately 15-18 days.

Let’s see in detail how you should count your days based on the specific steps done before the egg retrieval.

What is the standard Egg Retrieval procedure at EuroCARE IVF

If you are on your path to parenthood, please consider connecting with one of our helpful patient coordinators. Everyone has a different set of conditions and our clinic’s mission is to provide personalized approaches for treatment.

Basically, our standard Egg Retrieval procedure is as following:

  • Fertility Evaluation
  • Stimulation Phase
  • Egg Retrieval Procedure

The fertility evaluation is necessary to be done so we can check your hormone levels to prescribe the right dosage of medication and treatment protocol. Based on the results from your blood tests, and ultrasound we can establish a suitable treatment strategy.

The stimulation phase is very important for a successful IVF cycle. It is crucial for us to be able to extract mature and viable eggs that would result in successful fertilization. Therefore, this phase has to be very carefully performed. The ovarian stimulation protocol differs from woman to woman.

The duration of this protocol depends on the woman’s response to the medication.

Therefore, EuroCARE requires a scan made on day 6 or 7 of the menstrual cycle to evaluate the stimulation protocol effectivity. At this stage, your dosage of medication might change so better results can be achieved.

Here is how your timeline would look if you decide to start the medication therapy in your home country.

For the egg retrieval, you will be lightly sedated and so sleeping for the entire procedure.  The doctor will collect your eggs from the ovaries by ultrasound-guided aspiration. This procedure takes about 20 minutes and multiple eggs can be successfully collected.
