Single motherhood is becoming increasingly popular among Western women. There are many reasons why women pursue parenthood as a single mother including education, career, travelling, being single, etc.
For our experience, single momscan be very successful parents. What matters is the parenting style they will adopt, not the type of household they live in. Good relationships are what makes the child happy. Spending quality time with the child is the most important thing that leads to a happy family.
Are you thinking about single parenting? Being proactive about your fertility is one of the best decisions you can make as a woman. Here are your options:
- IVF with donor sperm (Sperm Donation)
- IVF with donor eggs and sperm (Embryo Donation)
- Egg Freezing (Oocyte Cryopreservation)
Once you have decided that you are ready to become a single mom, the next thing to consider is fertility testing. The quality of your eggs starts to decline rapidly after the age of 35. For this reason, our euroCARE IVF doctor will ask you to have a fertility assessment done before the treatment starts to assess your ovarian reserve. Ovarian reserve is the number of eggs in your ovaries, which indicate the level of fertility in women. Donor eggs Cyprus may be recommended if you have a low ovarian reserve or poor-quality eggs.
IVF for Single Women
Single women can achieve pregnancy through the methods of assisted reproductive technology (ART). One of the most successful ART techniques is IVF (in vitro fertilization). During IVF in North Cyprus, our fertility doctor will collect mature eggs from the ovaries using a small needle and will fertilize them with the sperm in a specialized lab. The resulting embryos are then implanted into the uterus (womb) of the woman.
IVF with Donor Sperm (Sperm Donation)
How Does Sperm Donation in Cyprus Work?
Sperm donation in Cyprus is a viable option that helps single women without a partner to get pregnant. After the potential donor completes the screening process and meets the basic requirements for sperm donation, a semen sample is provided and stored in a frozen state. The sample is made available for use in IVF treatments at our IVF clinic in Cyprus. Patients in search of a sperm donor can access the donor database and look for a suitable donor. One of our patient coordinators will guide you through the process of selecting a suitable sperm donor. We will continue to provide support throughout the whole treatment process. You can always count on our support!
Using Donor Sperm to Get Pregnant
Sperm donation is popular fertility treatment that helped many single women to achieve their dream of motherhood. In this assisted reproductive technique, the ovaries are first stimulated using fertility drugs to produce more eggs. The eggs are extracted from the ovaries and fertilized with the donor sperm by the method known as Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection (ICSI) Cyprus. While the fertilized eggs (now embryos) are developing in the laboratory, our embryologist will carry out a quality assessment to determine which embryos are the most viable ones to transfer tot he woman’s uterus. Only the best embryos will be chosen in order to improve the chances of a successful pregnancy. IVF using donor sperm is a safe option for aspiring future moms who decide to be single mothers.
IVF With Donor Eggs and Donor Sperm (Embryo Donation)
Egg and sperm donors are selected based on extremely strict medical criteria and undergo a series of tests to ensure they are healthy and fit for donation. We also check for the absence of genetic diseases in the donor’s personal or family history. Once the egg donor screening process is completed, the donor will be required to sign a consent, in which she will give up any legal rights over the resulting child/children.
How to Find an Egg Donor in Cyprus?
When selecting an egg donor, it will be important to consider what characteristics are most important to you. Factors such as hair and eye color, skin tone, height, occupation, education, and hobbies are common considerations. The same applies to sperm donors. There are hundreds of profiles of sperm donors you can choose from. We understand that selecting a donor is a very personal, emotional decision. Under the guidance of our patient coordinators, you will be able to make the right choice.
Egg Donor Cycle
Once you have chosen your donor, the egg donation process in Cyprus can begin. Egg donors have to undergo ovarian stimulation to encourage their ovaries to produce more eggs. This involves administering hormone injections subcutaneously for about 10-12 days. Donors are monitored through ultrasound scans and blood tests to check the growth of their eggs. When fully matured, the eggs are collected using ultrasound-guided aspiration while the donor is under sedation.
The semen sample is obtained from the chosen sperm donor who has passed an extensive screening process. The sperm is thawed before being used to fertilization purposes. Single sperm cells are then injected into each collected egg. This highly effective method of fertilization is called ICSI (Intracytoplasmic sperm injection). Here at euroCARE IVF, we use ICSI for each IVF treatment in Cyprus.
In the next few days, fertilized eggs (embryos) are monitored and assessed for quality. On day three or five, embryos will be transferred to the patient’s uterus using a preloaded catheter. This procedure will take only 15 minutes and requires no sedation. The number of embryos will depend on the day of transfer and the personal circumstances of the patient. Any remaining good-quality embryos can be frozen and used for subsequent cycles at our IVF clinic in North Cyprus.
Egg Freezing (Oocyte Cryopreservation)
What Is The Process Of Egg Freezing In Cyprus?
You may feel like your biological clock is ticking loudly, and with no partner in sight, it can be difficult to decide to start a family. No need to stress out! We are here to help you preserve your fertility and have a baby when you feel ready. The key is to freeze your eggs. This advanced technology allows you to cheat your biological clock and have a family at an appropriate time.
The first step in the egg freezing process is consultation and fertility testing. The fertility testing will provide our team with information about your ovarian reserve and your overall health. You will discuss the test results and the egg freezing process in detail with our fertility specialist.
Next, you will be prescribed medications that will encourage the ovaries to grow multiple eggs. During this stage of the egg freezing process, you’ll have regular blood tests and ultrasounds performed to monitor the response of the ovaries. Following your progress will help our team to adjust the medication protocol to attain better results. Once the eggs reach the optimal growth, an egg retrieval procedure will be performed at the euroCARE IVF clinic in North Cyprus. During this 15-minute painless procedure, the eggs will be retrieved from your ovaries using ultrasound-guided aspiration. And that’s it!
Immediately after retrieval, your eggs will undergo a process called cryopreservation. During this process, the eggs will be frozen using vitrification in our state-of-the-art laboratory. Vitrification is a flash-freezing technique that allows us to safely freeze your eggs within minutes. This emerging technology increases the egg survival rates to near 100 percent.
Frozen eggs are stored for an indefinite period of time in a specialized, secure facility. When you will decide that you want to become a mom, the frozen eggs are thawed in our laboratory and fertilized with the donor’s sperm, again using ICSI (Intracytoplasmic sperm injection) technique for fertilization. The best embryos are transferred to the already prepared uterus in a procedure called frozen embryo transfer (FET) Cyprus. Twelve days after the transfer you will have a beta hCG test to determine if you are pregnant.
